The Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE), in
co-operation with the Nicosia based media company FMW - Financial Media Way, is
organizing the 2nd Cyprus Energy Symposium, on March 14-15, 2013, in the capital of
Cyprus at the Cyprus Hilton Hotel.
Following the successful 1st Cyprus Energy Symposium, which
took place last January, the 2nd Symposium will focus on the
«Energy Resources
of Cyprus and the New Situation in Eastern Mediterranean».
The President-elect of Cyprus, just within a month after his
election, will be the invited speaker at the official Symposium dinner on March
14. The agenda of the second day (March 15) of the Symposium will cover mainly technical
and economic issues related to the Cyprus energy sector.
The energy strategy on the research and exploitation of
hydrocarbons, the regional gas market, the electricity market, as well as
Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and energy efficiency, will be the main topics
of the 2nd Cyprus Energy Symposium.
The detailed agenda of the Symposium, which is to be held
under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is the
following:
- The new energy strategy of Cyprus within the framework of
the 2020 EU targets.
- The outlook for natural gas exploration and production in
Cyprus, the new energy mix and the geopolitical implications for the region
- Presentations of the companies that have obtained licenses
in the blocks of the Cypriot EEZ
- The electricity market in Cyprus
- RES, co-generation and energy efficiency in Cyprus
Apart from the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the
leaders of Cypriot political parties, ministers from the governments of Cyprus
and Greece, representatives from public and private companies and organizations
from both countries, academics and professionals from the energy field are
expected to attend the 2nd Cyprus Energy Symposium.
More than 25 speakers and panelists are expected to participate
and cover a wide range of energy resources and applications.
