The Greek undersecretary
of Energy, Asimakis Papageorgiou, said today, during a press meeting, that a
rise in electricity prices is likely for 2013.
Mr.
Papageorgiou mentioned that the government stayed true to its commitment for no
price hikes in 2012, but in 2013 the electricity charges will have to be
liberated, according to the guidelines set by the EU.
“On our
part, we do everything we can for the best possible solution”, he added.
Mr.
Papageorgiou also spoke about the investment program in energy. He said that “the
natural gas pipeline to Peloponnisos will be realized, creating many new jobs
in the process. Also, the tender for the third LNG tank in Revythoussa is in
its final stages and so is the tender for the lignite mine in
Northern Greece
”.
