The EU offered to make available to Bulgaria 260 million euro ($335.6 million) in grants under the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF) by 2020.
The money is earmarked in the EU seven-year budget draft presented by the president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, the state-run Bulgarian National Radio reported.
A week ago, Rompuy said 185 million euro were allocated to Bulgaria as a compensation for the four shut down reactors of its sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy, but after talks with the Bulgarian delegation the size of the financial support was revised.
Bulgaria seeks 450 million euro in compensations for the plant units' closure.
The KIDSF fund, established in 2001, supports projects to reform and modernise both the supply and demand side of energy use in Bulgaria. It was set up under a framework agreement between the EBRD and the Bulgarian government.
