The Institute of Energy
for SE Europe (IENE) has announced the detailed programme of the “7th
S.E. Europe Energy Dialogue”, which will be held in Thessaloniki at the MET Hotel on June 19 –
20, 2013. As in past years, IENE’s annual Energy Dialogue conference is being organized
in association with the World Energy Council (WEC). This year, the Energy
Dialogue will focus on «The New Regional Parameters» vis-a΄
-
vis the latest developments of the
evolving natural gas and electricity markets of
the region, as well as the ever deepening energy partnerships of on S.E. European countries with the Caspian
Sea, the East Mediterranean, the Middle East and North
Africa.
The
present difficult economic situation facing most European countries and the
implications on security of energy supply and the global concern for the
development of viable alternatives will form the general background of the 7th
SEEED’s agenda.
The purpose
of this international gathering which is being organized by IENE,under the
auspices of the Greek government and with the support of leading international
organizations,is to bring together high-ranking government officials, senior
business executives and energy experts from the countries of S.E. Europe but
also from major energy producing countries with the objective of exchanging
information and ideas, networking and discussing the shaping of the political
action required in order to face the increased global and regional energy and
environmental challenges. The “Energy Dialogue” has been conceived as a forum
for furthering the idea of a S.E. European energy bridge involving all the
countries of the region.
In
addition to the official representation from each one of the SE European
countries and the participation of top management executives from most major
energy companies of the region, senior executives from banks and financial
institutions (e.g. EBRD, EIB, World Bank, Black Sea Development Bank, etc.)
donor representatives as well as high ranking officials from major
international organizations are expected to take part in this two-day high level
regional meeting. Like all six past “Energy Dialogue” events, IENE will gather
in Thessaloniki
top policy-makers from the countries of the region, financiers and
entrepreneurs but also senior representatives from some of the world’s leading
energy and banking institutions, including the International Energy Agency (IEA), the European Commission, the Energy
