Chevron Corp. said that its second-quarter global oil and gas production
and refining-business activity is on track to decrease from a year earlier.
Chevron, the second-largest
U.S.
oil
company in market value after Exxon Mobil Corp., produced 2.57 million barrels
a day of oil and natural gas in April and May, down 2.1% from its production
rate in the full second quarter of 2012.
Throughout its interim report, Chevron compared the first two months of the
current quarter to the entire second quarter of 2012 and all of the first
quarter of 2013.
Chevron's
U.S.
production
in the first two months of the quarter reached about 659,000 barrels of oil and
natural gas a day, flat from a year ago and 0.7% lower than the first quarter.
International production reached 1.91 million barrels a day, down 2.8% from a
year earlier and down 3.6% from the first quarter. International output
declined from the previous quarter due to lower demand in
Thailand
, as
well as planned turnaround activity in
Kazakhstan
and
Australia
and
maintenance in
Nigeria
.
