Energy Ministry will submit to the government a draft law on liberalizing
liquefied natural gas exports "in the coming days," the country's top
energy official was cited as saying Friday.
"The draft law is ready and should be submitted to the government in the
coming days," Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters,
Interfax news agency reported.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in June that companies other than state
giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) should be allowed to export LNG. Gazprom has lagged
behind global peers in LNG.
Russian state oil firm OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) and OAO Novatek (NVTK.RS),
Russia's No. 2 natural-gas producer, have pressed the government to allow them
to export and have already signed supply deals with Asian consumers.
