Eni SpA isn't interested in buying any of the main assets that BP
plans to sell, a top official at the Italian oil and natural gas
company said Wednesday.
"We don't need to buy any producing assets," said Claudio
Descalzi, head of Eni's exploration and production division, on a
conference call to comment on the firm's second-quarter results.
Descalzi said Eni would be interested in buying assets it
shares with BP,
mainly in Egypt and Indonesia, but he isn't aware that these are among
those the U.K. company plans to sell.
Eni expects to sell assets worth about EUR3 billion this year,
said Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni on the same conference call.
