The United Arab Emirates Tuesday replaced its energy minister Mohammad Al-Hamli in a cabinet reshuffle, a move it said was aimed at accelerating the pace of economic development in the Gulf state.

Mr. al-Hamli was replaced by Suhail Mohamed Faraj al-Mazrouei, the deputy chief executive and senior vice president for new business development at the oil and gas unit of the
Abu Dhabi government's investment vehicle Mubadala.

The new cabinet was formed "to accelerate the pace of development in our country and to further achieve the aspirations of our people," the U.A.E.'s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said on his Twitter page.

"There will be young faces with new ideas and energy to keep up with the rapid changes and to deal with our people's top priorities."

The reshuffle, according to the Premier, saw four new ministers, including two new state ministers, as well as a change in the ministerial briefs of four existing ministers.

The changes include foreign trade which now falls under U.A.E.'s economy ministry headed by Sultan al-Mansouri. Sheikha Lubna al Qassemi, the former foreign trade minister, is now the Development and International Cooperation minister.
