Hellenic Technodomiki, Greece’s largest construction group, has signed an –83.5 million ($110 million) contract to upgrade Bucharest’s waste management facility, Technodomiki said Thursday, according to Reuters.
The first stage of the project includes the expansion and upgrade of the facility, which is one of Europe’s biggest environmental projects, Technodomiki said in a stock market filing. The project is expected to start in January and scheduled to be completed within three years, Technodomiki said.
Technodomiki will also build the main water supply and sewage systems at Bucharest’s municipalities of Glina, Manolache and Catelu, it said. Once the first phase of the project is completed the company will build a waste combustion plant in the Romanian capital. The plant is estimated to cost about –160 million.
