Repsol YPF JV Discovers new Natural Gas Field in Libya (03/01/2007)

Repsol YPF SA said it has discovered natural gas reserves with capacity for 1000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day at the C1-NC210 exploration well in Libya. In a statement, the oil and gas group said the well, located approximately 1000 km south of Tripoli, shows potential for several separate gas and oil bearing zones. Repsol YPF has a 35 pct stake in the project, while Woodside Petroleum, which operates the facility through its subsidiary Woodside Energy, holds 45 pct and a third partner, Hellenic Petroleum SA controls 20 pct. The partners are drilling the well under an exploration and production sharing agreement with the National Oil Corporation Libya. (AFX News, 03/01/2007)
