Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Naryshkin doesn't rule out that Russia may resume its gas exports to Azerbaijan.
He pointed out that he discussed the issue with the Azerbaijani authorities.
“We understand that on the one hand this is a rather delicate theme, on the other hand the energy complex is the most receptive area of our economic cooperation,” Naryshkin told journalists on Friday.
The top official believes that both Azerbaijan and Russia are interested in mutual attraction of capital.
“We want our big companies to work on the Azerbaijani market,” he said.
At the Baku talks the parties agreed that it is necessary to introduce amendments to the bilateral contractual basis.
“It is necessary to finalize and sign an agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments. We will do this,” Naryshkin said.
He expressed confidence that Russian companies have a good potential to make investments in foreign economies, including in Azerbaijan’s one.
At the talks the two parties discussed Russian oil companies’ interest in exploration and development of Azerbaijan’s new fields.
“In this context Russneft was mentioned,” Naryshkin said.
