The Institute of Energy for South-East Europe (IENE) upon the occasion of the annual National Greek Energy Conference known as “Energy and Development” organizes in parallel, the Energy Week for the first time in Athens from Oct 22 to Oct 26, 2007. The first “Energy Week” is organized under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Development.
The Energy Week along with the “Energy & Development” conference and the annual “Energy and Technology” exhibition will take place in the Evgenidion Foundation and it will cover a wide range of energy topics.
Through a series of one-day conferences, special presentations and press conferences combined with the annual “Energy and Development” conference, the Energy Week will cover the latest developments in the electricity, solid fuel, oil, gas and Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Conservation and environmental protection sectors. The exhibition will focus on new environment-friendly energy technologies which lead to sustainable development.
The outline Energy Week programme (see www.iene.gr), will cover the whole of the energy sector, paying extra attention on significant developments which are underway and which are expected to shape the new energy landscape of the next decade. European Union’s directives for the reduction of the gas emissions (GGE’s) and its targets to cover 20% of its energy needs from renewable energy sources and to proceed with energy conservation to the tune of 20% by 2020, will come under the spotlight of the Energy Week.
The “Energy Technology” exhibition and the company presentations and discussions which are scheduled to take place in the “Energy Week” are expected to contribute favourably in the creation of an attractive investment climate.
The “Energy Week” will also host a special event in the Italian Education Institute dedicated to the Greek-Italian Energy Cooperation , a special presentation of the energy website www.energia.gr, a one-day conference on the Photovoltaics Systems and their applications in the built environment.
The “Energy Week” will host more than 60 speakers from Greece and abroad who at the same time will take part in the conference’s sessions but also in the various seminars and company presentations.
A large number of companies is expected to participate in the annual “Energy and Technology” exhibition. With the kind support and sponsorship by some of Greece’s leading companies and the active participation of international energy groups, the Energy Week aims at becoming a point of reference for the energy developments in Greece and the SE European region.
