The 12th national annual Conference “Energy & Development-The Emerging Greek Energy Challenge” organized by the Institute of Energy for Southeast Europe (IENE) was concluded successfully late Wednesday.
Sessions titled “The New Energy Routes of SE Europe”, “Major Greek Energy Investment Projects” and “Competition and the European Energy Markets” attracted great interest following the remarks of the distinguished speakers.
In the “The New Energy Routes of SE Europe” key energy projects like the Nabucco, the South Stream, and the TAP gas pipeline, the Iran-Turkey-SE Europe gas corridor, the Burgas-Alexandroupolis and other regional oil pipelines were presented.
Speakers like George Avlonitis, of the Regulatory Energy Authority (RAE), Elias Karidoyiannis of EGl Hellas, Christos Dimas, general manager of Thrace/HELPE consortium, Spyros Paleoyiannis DEPA executive and deputy chairman of IENE and Theodoros Tsakiris a research fellow of IENE participated in the session.
In the fourth session “Major Greek Energy Investment Project” speakers-executives of Greek energy companies elaborated their business plans.
In the fifth session “Competition and the European Energy Markets” topics like the role of electricity and natural gas, the new legislative initiatives of the EU, prospects for competition in the Greek energy market and the an overview of progress within the Energy Community, were discussed.
