The Greek Photovoltaic Market has a Long Way Ahead (31/10/2007)

Despite the initial enthusiasm, Greece’s photovoltaic market has a long way to go. That was the conclusion of the one-day presentation “Photovoltaics & Development Workshop” organized by the Institute of Energy for South-east Europe which took place last Friday in the Eugenides Foundation. George Anemodouras, chairman of the Photovoltaic Companies Association of Greece underlined the need for a specific legislation which will clarify landplaning details along with a fair pricing system for the energy produced by PV systems. So far, there are some 7, 300 potential investors, but there are serious delays in the licensing process. In Europe, PV market is flourishing, with Germany holding 25% of the world PV market share. Other European countries like France is trying to catch up in the PV market, as Mr Fabrice Juquois of France’s ADEME, said.
