Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov will arrive in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, later on Thursday for an official visit, a spokesman for the Russian government said.
During his two-day visit, Zubkov is expected to meet with the Uzbek prime minister, Shavkat Mirziyeyev, and President Islam Karimov to discuss bilateral trade and economic cooperation, mainly in the energy sphere.
The Russian prime minister will also take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The participants of the meeting will discuss Russia's proposal to establish the SCO Energy club to effectively use energy resources and develop economic ties.
The agenda for the Friday meeting will also include such issues as transport, cooperation in emergency situations, education, health, and tourism.
