The French government intends to sell part of its stake in majority
state-owned utility Electricite de France"as soon as
possible," French finance minister Christine Lagarde told reporters
Friday.
"We always act as soon as possible when the president has made
a decision of this kind," Lagarde said, commenting on French president
Nicolas Sarkozy's decision to sell part of the state's stake in EdF.
Sarkozy said late Thursday he plans to sell 3% of EdF to
finance a EUR5 billion investment program in the country's universities.
