DOHA (Dow Jones)--The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OAPEC, will not mention concerns about record high oil prices or worries about a global economic slowdown in a statement after its ministerial meeting in Qatar's capital Doha on Saturday, a person aware of the matter told Dow Jones Newswires.

OAPEC will issue a statement aimed at tackling environmental and administrative issues, said the person who declined to be named.

"The meeting is just dealing with some regular administrative issues, and the statement will reflect this," the person said.

"More serious issues are left for the Abu Dhabi meeting," he added.

The 13-member Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries group will meet next week in Abu Dhabi in the U.A.E. and may agree a boost to its crude production levels to ease the pain of an economic slowdown and remove some of the sting of oil prices driven toward $100 a barrel partly as a consequence of the weak dollar. OAPEC Saturday selected Abbas Naki, an official at Kuwait's oil ministry, as its new secretary general, people aware of the matter Dow Jones Newswires.

Naki will serve for three years, the people said at OAPEC's ministerial meeting in Qatar's capital Doha.
