BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--European Union biodiesel companies have voted to file complaints against the U.S. to the European Commission's trade office over subsidies for biodiesel exports, Raffaello Garofalo, secretary-general of the European Biodiesel Board told Dow Jones Newswires Monday.
The complaints refer to U.S. subsidies on biodiesel that allow exporters to move their biodiesel through the U.S. to gain extra subsidies before selling to Europe.
The U.S. subsidies allow non-European producers to sell into the E.U. market cheaply through reaping two subsidies - one from the U.S. and another from the E.U. - while their E.U. counterparts only reap one subsidy, the board has previously said.
The complaints are expected to be filed within the next couple of weeks. The board expects the commission to begin its investigation in early 2008.
