PARIS (Dow Jones)--Trade unions of French state-controlled natural gas operator Gaz de France (1020848.FR) could try to block the merger of the company with utility Suez (SZE.FR), French business daily La Tribune reported Wednesday, citing labor sources.
On Monday, unions suspended a meeting with GDF's management over the merger. The unions will declare themselves unable to give their opinions of the merger at a legally required meeting of management and unions on Dec. 20, the sources told the newspaper.
GDF's management fears such a move could postpone the finalization of the merger with Suez, La Tribune reported.
