BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--French energy company Suez (SZE) is close to a deal to sell nuclear energy to Belgium's second-biggest energy company SPE, de Tijd reports, citing sources at the cabinet of Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.
Suez would sell 635 megawatts to SPE, which is controlled by U.K.'s Centrica (CNA.LN) and French gas company Gaz de France (1020848.FR).
The deal is part of promises made by Suez to the Belgian government in 2006 to open the Belgian electricity market to more competition.
