Vattenfall Europe AG (VTT.XE) Monday said it will offer electricity to private households throughout Germany starting immediately.
In a written statement, the company said private retail customers can now order power supplies online in more than a third of Germany. Vattenfall Europe plans to gradually expand the offering to the remaining parts of the country, it added.
Until now, Vattenfall has primarily been offering power to retail customers in the Hamburg and Berlin regions.
Vattenfall Europe, a unit of Swedish state-controled Vattenfall Group, is the last of Germany's four dominant power generators that launches Germany-wide electricity offerings to private end customers.
E.ON AG (EOA.XE), RWE AG (RWE.XE) and EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (EBK.XE) are already offering similar services through their E Wie Einfach, Eprimo and Yello subsidiaries.
