E.ON U.K., a subsidiary of Germany's E.ON AG (EOA.XE), said Thursday it has no current plans to raise its retail gas and electricity prices.
E.ON U.K., a subsidiary of Germany's E.ON AG (EOA.XE), said Thursday it has no current plans to raise its retail gas and electricity prices.

A spokeswoman for the company denied a report in The Times of London that E.ON recently called its sales team into a meeting to brief them on the price increase. The meeting was the company's annual sales conference and had nothing to do with an increase in prices, the spokeswoman said.

Other U.K. utilities Centrica PLC (CNA.LN), EDF Energy, a subsidiary of Electricite de France SA (1024251.FR), and Npower, a subsidiary of Germany's RWE AG (RWE.XE) posted double-digit rises in prices earlier this month. Scottish and Southern Energy PLC (SSE.LN) said it won't raise its prices this winter.

The companies blamed their price increases on higher wholesale gas and power prices, which have been boosted by soaring oil and coal costs. The E.ON spokeswoman said they are monitoring prices in the wholesale gas and electricity markets.
