Russia and Poland differ in their views on the Nord Stream gas pipeline construction project, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said after talks with his Russian counterpart Viktor Zubkov Friday.

During his visit to Moscow, Tusk was due to present an alternative to the Nord Stream gas pipeline that connects Russia with western Europe through the Baltic Sea. That alternative, the Amber pipeline, would cross Poland and the three Baltic states.

"At the same time we confirmed that when it comes to cooperation in the gas sector we will have good cooperation and that both sides will ensure that our gas policies are beneficial for both Poland and Russia," Tusk said during a press conference with Zubkov.

Zubkov said that the discussion between them on the subject was an "honest" one.

"We understood each other and we understand each other in all matters," Zubkov said.
