PKN Orlen (PKN.WA) will start processing Azeri Light crude oil in its Plock refinery in March, the company said in a statement.

Poland's top oil refiner and retailer said processing Azeri crude will allow PKN Orlen to compensate for lower prediction of diesel as one of its diesel hydro-desulfurization units will be shut for maintenance.

"Azeri is typical diesel crude," PKN Orlen's statement said.

The statement said PKN Orlen has already bought all the Azeri crude oil it needs.

The Plock refinery has been designed to obtain optimal product yields from processing Russian crudes, which typically have high sulfur content.
