E.ON AG (EOA.XE), the world's largest investor- owned utility by market value, said Thursday it has offered the European Commission a compromise aimed at settling its ongoing antitrust case.
"E.ON proposes to commit to sell its electricity transmission system network to an operator which would have no interest in the electricity generation and/or supply businesses and to commit to divest 4,800 megawatts of generation capacity to competitors," E.ON said in a written statement.
The company added that its offer was made under the condition that the commission would drop its investigation.
