Iraq's Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani Wednesday said Iraq and Iran have agreed to the joint development of two oil fields near the countries' shared border.
Speaking at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries meeting here, al-Shahristani said: "We discussed the issue (shared oil fields with Iran) during (Iranian president) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit this week to Iraq.
"We have agreed to work closely to develop the shared oil fields together," he said.
The fields in question are Missan and Fukka, which lie in the border area.
"We expected experts from both sides to convene in a month to develop shared fields," al-Shahristani said.
