Gaz de France (1020848.FR) was the principal winner of a drawing rights auction organized by Electricite de France (1024251.FR) to allow its competitors access to cheaper power, French business newspaper Les Echos reported Thursday, citing anonymous sources.
GdF got its hands on more than 300 megawatts, of 500MW on offer, Les Echos reported.
Five companies, out of around a dozen bidders, won some capacity, according to Les Echos. And the average price of the power auctioned was around EUR42, or EUR10 less than EdF had previously charged competitors, Les Echos said, without naming its sources.
A spokesman for GdF confirmed that GdF had taken some of the power on offer, but was unable to provide further details.
