Russia's United Co. Rusal, the world's largest aluminum producer, has agreed to sell a 50% stake in the Ekibastuzskoye coal field to the Kazakh state property management company Samruk Holding for $345 million, the company said Thursday.
The deal is a part of a joint venture established last year between the two companies to develop coal and energy assets in Kazakhstan.
Ekibastuzskoye - the largest coal deposit in the world - is located in Kazakhstan's Pavlodar region.
