Enel SpA's (ENEL.MI) domestic natural gas distribution network, that the company may sell to reduce its debt, is worth about EUR2 billion, daily Il Sole-24 ore reports Tuesday, without citing sources.
Enel's 30,000-kilometer gas network serves 2 million of its clients and is the country's second-biggest, says the report.
Enel Chief Executive Fulvio Conti said Monday the sale of the gas distribution network was a "hypothesis." Enel's net debt jumped to EUR55.8 billion at the end of December after the company bought joint control of Endesa SA (ELE.MC).
