Eni SpA (E) said Thursday it has successfully completed drilling and testing operations of well 34/12-1 on the new Afrodite gas/condensate discovery in Norway.
The well is located in the offshore license PL293, at a water depth of 373 meters in the Norwegian North Sea, some 165 kilometers west of Bergen.
Eni is operator of the project with an equity stake of 45%. Other partners in the project are StatoilHydro (40%) and Idemitsu (15%).
"The data from the well and the results of the tests will shortly be analyzed in order to determine the size of the discovery, and eventually outline a preliminary development plan," Eni said in a statement.
Eni has been present in Norway since 1964 and also operates the Goliat Field development project in the Barents Sea. The company's current equity hydrocarbon production in the country is approximately 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
