German utility RWE AG (RWE.XE) will shut down its nuclear power plant Emsland for planned maintenance works May 31, a spokesman for the company's power generation unit RWE Power said Thursday.
"The power plant will be shut down as planned," spokesman Lothar Lambertz said. "Maintenance works are scheduled to begin Saturday."
Under the RWE maintenance plan the outage will last until June 26.
The Emsland reactor has a generation capacity of 1.3-gigawatt.
