Spanish fishermen will give out 20 metric tons of fish for free at a demonstration kicking off an indefinite strike as part of European protests over soaring fuel prices.
Spanish Fishing Confederation leader Javier Garat says fishermen "are going through the worst crisis of the last 100 years."
Garat says gasoline prices have gone up around fourfold in the last five years, telling Cadena SER radio that "no economy can put up with that."
Fishermen from all over the country will take part in the protest Friday morning outside a ministry building in Madrid. The protest follows others in France, Italy and Portugal.
