Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday vehemently rejected charges Tehran was working to make a nuclear weapon, saying possessing the bomb was of no use.

"The Iranian nation is not seeking a nuclear weapon," Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on state television.

"We are seeking nuclear energy for peaceful purposes for daily use and we will continue this path to the envy of our enemies. We will mightily achieve this aim."

"No wise nation today would be interested in making a nuclear weapon. They are against rational thought. Nuclear bombs are not beneficial as they cannot be used...They (Iran's enemies) know nuclear weapons are useless."

His comments come a day after U.N. atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei urged "full disclosure" from Iran over allegations that Tehran hid key information about weaponization in its contested nuclear program.
