Russia's state gas company OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is opposed to creating an OPEC-style gas charter, the Itogi weekly magazine reported Monday, citing Chief Executive Alexei Miller.
"This organization no longer has any real influence on the world oil market. Lately OPEC has not made one decision that essentially has influenced the state of the market," Alexei Miller told the weekly magazine Itogi.
"If one day there's talk of creating a gas OPEC, these lessons should be taken into account," Miller said adding: "Right now it's not even worth talking about it."
Lately, there has been talk among producers such as Russia, Iran and Venezuela of creating what has become known as a 'gas OPEC', mirroring the 13-member Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, whose members control more than 40% of the world's crude oil output.
