French energy engineering company Alstom SA (1022047.FR) Thursday said it had signed a contract worth over EUR200 million with China Guang Dong Nuclear Power Company for the engineering and procurement of the complete turbine island for the nuclear power plant to be built in Taishan, in the southwestern province of Guangdong.
The Taishan plant will be China's first European Pressurised Reactor, or EPR, power plant, Alstom noted.
This contract follows the EUR300 million order, including around EUR100 million for Alstom, booked in February 2008 and won in partnership with the Chinese industrial group and Alstom's long-standing partner, Dongfang Electric Company.
This first order was for the supply of two Arabelle turbine-generator packages for the Taishan nuclear plant, Alstom also said.
