German utility E.ON AG's (EOA.XE) nuclear power plant Unterweser is generating electricity at reduced capacity due to a glitch, according to the company's Web site.

The 1,345-megawatt nuclear reactor's generation capacity was reduced to 1,050 MW Aug. 3, the company said.

It didn't further specify the cause of the reduction, only saying the capacity reduction was due to a "glitch at the power plant facility".

The problem is expected to be fixed Aug. 23 at which time the reactor should produce at full capacity again.

According to information seen previously by Dow Jones Newswires the Unterweser reactor was due to be shut down for planned annual maintenance work between Aug. 2 and Aug. 19.
