LONDON -(Dow Jones)--Natural gas is still flowing out of the Turkish side of the South Caucasus Pipeline, or SCP, which transports natural gas through Georgia, but it is no longer entering on the Azerbaijani side, a spokesman for its operator, BP PLC (BP), said Tuesday.

SCP normally carries production from BP's Shah Deniz natural gas field from Azerbaijan's Caspian coast through Georgia and to Turkey.

Shah Deniz's output was in excess of about 14.2 million cubic meters a day of gas at the end of 2007.

BP said earlier Tuesday that SCP had been closed temporarily as a precaution due to recent fighting between Russia and Georgia. But the BP spokesman clarified that natural gas continued to be transported on the Turkish side of the pipeline.
