LONDON (Dow Jones)--Repairs to the 1 million barrel a day Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in Turkey began over the weekend, although it is still too early to say when it will resume operations, a spokesman for the operator of the Turkish section, Botas International Ltd., said Monday.
Repairs began late Saturday or early Sunday and are progressing well, he said, but, "it's a step by step process...we don't know just yet how long it will take."
Turkish security forces have completed their investigation into the cause of the fire on a pipeline valve but haven't released any conclusions, he said.
The Turkish Energy Minister told news service IHA Monday that the BTC will be running in the coming days. The Botas spokesman said the ministry had no more information on the status of the repairs than Botas did.
