LONDON (Dow Jones)--Russian troops have begun building new checkpoints just north of the Georgian city of Gori, The New York Times reports on its Web site.
Deep trenches were being dug on the edge of the town of Karaleti and concrete blocks were being lowered to form barricades, the NYT reports.
The outpost in Karaleti, seen by a NYT reporter, seems to gel with information released Monday by Russia, which clarified the scope of their proposed withdrawal from Georgia, the newspaper reports
