Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold a meeting of his national security council Tuesday, a Kremlin press official told AFP.
The official gave no details of the agenda of the meeting, which comes after both houses of parliament Monday appealed to the Russian president to recognise the independence of two Georgian rebel regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The daily business newspaper Vedomosti reported that the meeting would address the rebel regions' calls for recognition as well as the question of Russian troop numbers in Georgia.
