Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) expects to post a net profit of $30 billion in 2008 on revenue of $100 billion, the company's Chief Executive Alexei Miller said Sunday in an interview on Vesti news channel.
"I can tell you that revenue will equal about $100 billion. And our net profit will be somewhere around $30 billion," Miller said. Gazprom is expected to report its first-quarter financial results this week.
These figures are almost the same as in 2007, when net profit rose 11% to $97 billion.
Miller also said the financial crisis has had little impact on Gazprom's operations.
"For a giant like Gazprom, the financial crisis is not a matter of any concern," Miller said, noting that the company feels confident, as it operates in a very favorable pricing environment.
Miller added that Gazprom has enough money on its cash flow to overcome the liquidity crisis.
"We have simply astronomical numbers," Miller said. "That is why Gazprom feels itself absolutely steady in financial terms. I can tell you that despite the banking crisis and the crisis on the credit market, the banks are queuing up to lend us money," he said.
