Spain's Industry Ministry and the National Energy Commission, or CNE, are investigating a possible large fraud related to renewable power subsidies, Expansion newspaper reports Friday.
Companies may have registered wind and solar power projects with the government before they are operational in order to receive higher government aid before the deadline for a reduction in subsidies, the paper says.
The government lowered subsidies for wind power at the beginning at the year, and for photovoltaic solar energy at the end of September.
The possible fraud could amount to hundreds of millions of euros, Expansion says.
