South Korea and Turkmenistan agreed to cooperate in the joint development of offshore blocks in the Caspian sea and mineral mines in Turkmenistan, the presidential office in Seoul said Thursday.
During a summit meeting in Seoul, Turkmenistan agreed to support South Korea's efforts to secure energy and resources, it said in a statement.
Visiting Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow agreed to help South Korean companies' participation in energy projects in his country.
Samsung C&T Corp. (000830.SE) is seeking to participate in the Seidi refinery project; Daewoo International Corp. (047050.SE) is interested in joining a gas-pipe manufacturing plant construction project; and LG International Corp. (001120.SE) is interested in a project to build desulfurization facilities in that country, officials at the respective companies said.
