Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov said that Bulgaria would be one of the countries most severely hit by the gas conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In a crisis situation like this we have the right to resume the work of the two suspended nuclear reactors at Kozloduy, President Parvanov further commented and suggested Bulgaria to initiate an immediate preparation for restarting the 3rd reactor of the Kozloduy nuke according to article 36 of the Treaty for EU Accession.

According to Bulgaria's President the re-start of reactor 3 could be done immediately, while the launching of reactor #4 would need another month. Until then, however, the situation could get back to normal. "I sincerely hope our European partners would understand our situation and would not oppose our demand" President Parvanov further said.
