Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Grygory Nemyrya and other officials left for Brussels Monday to join a meeting of European Union foreign ministers on the gas crisis, the government said.
The head of state energy company Naftogaz, Oleg Dubina, was also part of the delegation, a government statement said.
Senior Russian officials were also expected to attend the meeting called to discuss the cutoff of gas supplies through Ukraine, which has led to a halt in deliveries to a swathe of European countries.
The two sides were still wrangling over an E.U.-brokered accord intended to resolve the transit crisis and lead to a resumption of supplies via Ukraine.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has said the E.U. side should also sign the accord.
