China National Petroleum Corp. signed Wednesday a $1.76-billion contract
with the National Iranian Oil Co. allowing CNPC to exploit the North Azadegan
oilfield in Iran, Xinhua reported Thursday.
Azadegan, which was discovered in 1999, is one of the largest oilfields in the
world, the report said.
