The European Union's executive commission said Thursday
it would convene a new meeting of E.U. gas experts on Monday to reassess the
energy situation in the bloc's eastern states that have been hit by a gas
dispute between Russia and Ukraine.
Russian gas supplies to Europe have been blocked for more than a week as a result of
the dispute. Ukraine is a main transit route for Russian gas into Europe.
