The French tax authorities are fully aware of all the accounts that oil major Total SA (TOT) holds in tax havens Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie said in an interview posted Friday on the Web site of France Info radio.
"We have some accounts in tax havens," de Margerie said, adding that "nothing is unknown" to French authorities as far as Total's accounts are concerned.
De Margerie didn't name the tax havens in which Total holds accounts.
Total has no account in Liechtenstein, de Margerie also said. In doing so, he repeated a March 31 statement from the company following a report that French prosecutors are investigating Total and others for tax-related activities involving accounts in Liechtenstein.
