Russia produced an average of 9.85 million barrels a day of crude oil and condensate in April, up 0.5% from March, the Interfax news agency reported Monday, citing Ministry of Industry and Energy statistics. The country produced 40.32 million metric tons of oil in April, Interfax reported, citing data from the TsDU-TEK department of the Industry and Energy Ministry.

In the first four months of the year, Russia's production totaled 160.36 million tons of crude oil and condensate, down 0.5% on the year.

Russia's overall oil output in 2008 totaled 488.12 million tons, averaging 9.78 million barrels a day, up 0.9% on the previous year.

Russia's natural gas production fell 17% in the first four months of the year to 197.67 billion cubic meters, Interfax reported.

The agency gave the following breakdown of oil production by individual companies in April. All figures are given in both million metric tons and in barrels a day.
