French state-controlled power group Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) will ask the government for a moderate increase in electrical regulated tariffs, Chief Executive Pierre Gadonneix said Wednesday in an interview with RMC radio.
This increase would take place before the end of the year, Gadonneix said, adding that electricity prices must reflect costs.
"Today, electricity prices don't allow us to sustainably finance the modernization of our transport and distribution network as well as our plants," Gadonneix said.
The tariff increase should match that of the long-term inflation rate, or even "one or two more percentage points," Gadonneix said.
